This month’s blog is all about packing!!! Hopefully you will find my new blog helpful and informative in the run up to your removal date. Here’s how to pack for removals.

Let’s take a moment to set the scene, you’ve exchanged contracts and you have been given your removal date. What next?

Well firstly most people make the mistake of assuming that the packing is a quick and simple aspect of the removal process. In fact the reverse is true. Successful packing requires organisation and planning.

There are many factors to consider such as where to purchase packing materials from and where to start. For most customers this may be the first time they have moved before so in this month’s blog I will give you a few tips that will be beneficial in successfully packing your belongings for your removal.

Andrews Removals are able to supply you with all of the packing materials you will need such as boxes, bubble wrap, tape, and packing paper plus wardrobe cartons for your items of clothing. We also offer different packing services so should you decide not to do the packing yourself you can leave it up to us.

Pack for Removals Tips!

Top tip #1
• Don’t leave it until the last minute. Start as soon as possible. The earlier the better as this allows you plenty of time to de-clutter. Take un-wanted items to the charity shop or have a car boot sale.

Top tip #2
• Keep all important documents in one place. This will prevent them getting lost in the move plus it means as soon as you are in your new home you can put them in a safe place.

Top tip #3
• Don’t over fill your boxes!! There is a lot of carrying to do either for yourself or for your removal company so try to avoid the temptation to fill boxes to the brim when you pack for removals.

Top tip #4
Which boxes to use?
Small boxes – we recommend packing heavy items such as books, CD’s, DVD’s, heavy items of food such as tins and bottles, ornaments and pictures in small boxes to prevent them being too heavy to carry.
Medium boxes – we recommend using medium sized boxes to pack the majority of your household items such as kitchenware, glassware and clothing. When packing your breakables ensure you use packing paper and bubblewrap, we also recommend using soft items to fill the boxes to capacity as this adds extra protection.
Large boxes – can be used to pack lighter items such as clothing, shoes, bedding, cushions and children’s toys.

Top tip #5
Pack a box of moving day essentials – with a small amount of effort you can make sure that the entire family have an enjoyable moving day and first night in your new home. You know your family better than anyone but here are some examples of items to include.
o Kettle, mugs, tea, coffee & sugar
o Cutlery, can opener & bowls
o Milk, biscuits & snacks
o Toilet paper, light bulbs
o Phone chargers, basic tool set, torch and cleaning products
o Kids favourite toys, books – to help them settle in their new surroundings
